The Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) is dedicated to improving results for infants, toddlers, children and youth with disabilities ages birth through 21. OSEP, directly and through its partners and grantees, develops a wide range of research-based products, publications, and resources to assist states, local district personnel, and families to improve results for students with disabilities. The archive of the webinar series along with resources from the presenters is now available on the Smart Beginnings webpage. OSEP hosted the three-day virtual mini-conference on August 15 – 17, 2023 which provided participants the opportunity to learn about resources for supporting children with disabilities heading into the new learning year.

OSERS/OSEP released guidance that describes practices in early childhood and school programs that can be used to prevent and respond to interfering behavior. Schools and early childhood programs can use the guidance to support children with disabilities and address disparities in the use of exclusionary discipline.

The Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) hosted its Leadership and Project Directors’ Conference on July 24, 2023 – July 26, 2023. The conference combined OSEP’s bi-annual Leadership and Project Directors’ conferences.
