With the adoption and implementation of the Common Core and other college- and career-ready standards, the bar has been raised for students to achieve at higher levels. As a result, the bar has also been raised for teachers, principals, and those who prepare them for those roles. This presentation introduces the report that focus on state components of the developmental continuum for teachers and leaders as well as pilots underway to implement the continuum.

CCSSO Task Force Report on Transforming Educator Preparation and Entry into the Profession

Bio

Kathleen Paliokas is Director of the Interstate Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (InTASC) at the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO). Dr. Paliokas oversaw the development and recent release in April 2011 of the Model Core Teaching Standards: A Resource for State Dialogue and its companion piece, State Policy Implications of the Model Core Teaching Standards. She also helped conceptualize and also staffs CCSSO’s new State Consortium on Educator Effectiveness (SCEE), which provides support to 30 states, represented by 6-member teams, as they work to develop coherent standards-based educator effectiveness systems.
